Have you ever been to the quaker rowing camp? What's it like?

I went last year it was the first rowing camp I've gone to and I had so much fun! It might be a little different since the head coach is different, but when I went it was fun and pretty relaxed. There's no erging, and the practices are more drill-oriented then power. You run about a mile before each practice, and the rocky steps before the afternoon practices. They have 1 or 2 contests every day, one athletic (I won the partner wall sit, the prize was cold gatorade it was the best cold gatorade I've ever had) and one remembering things from the talk they have after lunch/before afternoon practice. The talks are very good, usually on training or college recruiting and stuff and there's a college tour too. Bring money because they sell cool stuff and around the dorms there's a 6 block area you can go that has some good places. But I recommend eating the dinner they give you and not buying dinner, take the free food. I had so much fun I hope you do too!!

You definitely did very well on creating the scene and the way you formulated the characters on precisely right. The only thing I found in your work was your use on "whom". Its correct but it makes your writing a little obnoxious and pedantic. Just stick to who. Also, the entire first sentence is a run on sentence. I either think you should cut it in two and rephrase some of it or consolidate the message you are trying to give in the first sentence. Other than that i loved it. It was a nice little scene and i loved the way you described everything. The use of imagery was very nice.

Friends/Relatives: Are we supposed to accept this as part of life?

I'm talking about people I played football religiously on a Sunday and went to school with as well as in addition, my dad's brother's son's. Maybe in my own little existence, I'm feeling it because of the fact that I've recently lost my job, still live at home at the age of 30, have no real friends to socialise with or to talk to, no girlfriend, no sister, and just pretty much have a lower quality of life that I want. I mean, I weren't really that close looking back, but it was on the forefront always perceived upon. What my point is, is that over the last 5/6 years, I've witnessed both family and friends get married and gradually out of sight. Not that I want to think and believe this, but I always put it down to the wives who are heavily influential and have an impact. With my cousin for example, you are made to feel patronised and a stranger rather than made to feel special. Almost 5 years ago, I had this big massive fight and don't really speak to him since. I'm not a jealous person by any stretch, but with him now having a 4 bedroomed house, his wife and no children as such, it seems from the outside, he seems to have the life of riley. I on the other hand only just got my career together only to fall a casualty at the hands of public sector cuts :-(

I understand how patriotism and nationalism blind people to the casualties of conflict and war, but I honestly believe that every life is equally rich in potential and worth. In the U.S. it seems we are more willing to dismiss the killing of nearly anyone, children and innocents included as long as they are in a far away land. I suppose what I want to know is why Americans specifically, value the lives of themselves and their countrymen significantly more than those of other nationalities? My evidence for this is the death toll for 9/11 approx. 3,000 mostly American victims, in response we launched a decade of "conflicts" and a "war on terror which has to date led to the deaths of 5,885 U.S military. This brings the U.S death toll to approx. 8,885 a tragic and unnecessary number to be sure. Now, let's take a look at the human cost to Iraq and Afghanistan and compare. approx. 30.000 Iraqi troops have lost their lives during the "war on terror" 864,531 Iraqi civilians have lost their lives to the same fate. This means that around 894,531 Iraqis have been killed "for our freedom" Afghanistan to date has sustained around 8,813 civilian deaths and continues to grow. To clarify here U.S casualties including 9/11:8,885 < Iraq/Afghanistan casualties :903,344 There is no way to gentrify these numbers with justice, or logic, or anything but the human rights violation it is so how can we casually dismiss nearly a million dead humans that had little or nothing to do with a single attack on American soil.

Where would i stand sueing a doctor?

hi my son is only 4 years old and last week he was complaining about a sore throat and on saturday the 18th of june i noticed he had a rash on his chest and back, so i called my neighbour over to have a look and within minutes or even seconds of her being over here he had spread to his elbows so in the time frame of me getting him to the hospital in 5 Minutes it had spread to his face behind the knees and the groin. i took him to casualty and i told the doctor how fast it had spread and he could see for him self that it was bad so he looked in his mouth and seen his tonsils had swollen and the rash was pretty severe and he turned around and said it was either a allergic reaction to some thing or viral infection? and i asked them what? and he said i didn't know so they gave him some Prednisolone and phernergan and sent me home. so i got a second opinion and that doctor said the same thing over the phone, now my sister is a nurse and she said i think it's scarlet fever go get his throat swabbed so my sister took him in on the monday 20th of june at 12o'clock and that doctor said the same thing i don't think it's scarlet fever he doesn't have all the symptoms but did you want to do the swab anyway? and she said yes it would put his mother at ease so he did and i get a phone call of the test tonight at 6.30 22nd of june saying his test results came back positive!!!! so the doctor didn't even send him for a swab at casualty where the law is to do some tests and he didn't so if it wasn't for me demanding to get his throat swabbed i wouldn't have known. Now scarlet fever can cause heart problems later down the track and you dint know if it has done any damage to the heart until they get older like 16 years of age so it has taken them nearly four days to put him n antibiotics where they could have put him on antibiotics in 24 hours.scarlet fever is very highly cautious And i have a 2 year old daughter so he on;y hasn't my my sons life at risk he has put my daughters life at risk he had 2 of the symptoms where you dint need all of the symptoms to have it. So please help me me where would i stand i want to sue them after them misdiagnosing him for the wrong thing and not doing anything about it at all until i had to demand it where i shouldn't have done that at all. They are doctors our lives are in there hands!!!! it could have killed him in the Long run if nothing was done and the doctor i seen wasn't going to do anything at all

I was in that situation but my mom and her boyfriend didn't work out. I don't think it's right that your mom is moving for him. He should be the gentleman and take the time and trouble to move for your lady parent. Plus who will take care of you if your mom is gone while you stay in Pennsylvania? What should we do if my daughter does not want to attend a state school?

Head injury over a week ago. Will I be ok?

I suffered a head injury around 11 days ago where i was forced into a glass door and hit my head really hard. I was disorientated for a few minutes. I later ended up in casualty with concussion. I am a high school freshman who just finished the school year in Pennsylvania this week. My family will move to NY the next week. I will enroll in a local high school as a sophomore the next school year. I once used to lived in NYC when I was in 7th grade. I took different classes everyday when I was in NY (ex: Monday and Tuesday's classes are different). However, I took same classes everyday when I was in 8th grade (ex: Monday and Tuesday's classes are same). I am curious does that happen in NY high school too (I will be moved to a suburb this time instead of NYC)? If it does happen, are you still taking the same classes everyday but with a random class order? One more question: Are you taking your classes individually, or are you taking them with the same people (I mean the class mode when you were in the middle school, which you go to the classes with same people every class period)?

Are there any alternatives to Greyhound bus lines for Michigan?

I'm planning on visiting my friend in Pennsylvania sometime this week or next week and the only available bus schedule they have is for Sunday and that involves a 4 and a half hour layover in Pittsburg which makes my mom nervous so I can't do that. Sounds like you have a lot of interests, and that is a very good thing. High school is a learning experience, take as many diverse classes as you can and you will find your passion. Don't stress too much yet, just relax and enjoy it. I suggest trying summer internships and volunteering, maybe that could help you find what you like.

I have two ideas for a book, need help deciding which idea to focus on?

They are both about a zombie apocalypse, the main character is a man named Mike (in both versions). The FIRST idea: The zombie apocalypse happens, and a band of friends have prepared for it. It details their escapades over the years as they try to rebuild their lives- and the world. This is more of a series-type of book. The SECOND idea: The zombie apocalypse occurs, and Mike is one of the first casualties - but he's reanimated as a zombie. This would detail everything, how the accident occurred, how he lives, how he thinks, and perhaps his attempts to make himself human again. Please tell me which one you like (#1, #2) and why, and any improvements I could make. Once enough people agree on a storyline, I'll start working on it.

It's good, the sense of struggle and danger you put in the beginning always attracts readers. You keep having allusions which is good so that readers have a sense of what your character is going through even if they've never been on a battlefield or accident. I find you take your time with the details and stretch out dramatic scenes, this is not a bad thing just your writing style.

Did the US commit a war crime with the atomic bombs?

Firstly let me say that I am not in any way anti America! I was just wondering what people thought of this. It is very clear that the Japanese Empire during and before World War 2 was controlled with an iron fist and performed countless inhumane acts but what about the dropping of the atomic bombs? Both bombs were dropped on civilian centres and we all know the devastation that was experienced. I'm not a military tactician so, while I know the US wanted to end the war instead of a full invasion which would have cost a million American lives, I wonder why did they choose two undefended cities? What should I do about this strange kid?!?

Okay, so I'm 15 years old. In my drivers ed class theres this guy who I thought was pretty cute on the first few days. I didn't really know him so it's not like I have a crush on him or anything. But anyways, on Friday when class was over he dropped a note on my desk on his way out. It said his name and number and that I should text him. So I was pretty excited because I thought he was really cute. I texted him and we were just talking. He was saying how he thought I was really cute and hes glad I texted him blah blah blah. So he was acting like he wanted to date me but it turns out he lives 45 minutes away from me in a town I've never heard of.
