What is it that causes less casualties in war now?

Is it prior knowledge or is it technology because if you take the gulf war the iraq war and the war in afghanistan you get about 20 years of war combined with around 6,500 us deaths but you take Vietnam and Korea around 13 years and you have around 90,000 deaths so is it prior knowledge of war or is it technology that has reduced the amount of casualties
